Winner of two 2010 Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Bryan Cranston and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Aaron Paul, Breaking Bad: The Complete Third Season returns, hailed by the Los Angeles Times as "the best show on television." Even though his cancer's in remission, chemistry teacher-turned-meth maker Walter White (Cranston) still can't catch a break. his wife (Anna Gunn) has filed for divorce, his DEA agent brother-in-law (Dean Norris) is out to bust him and a Mexican cartel just wants him dead. But with his family's future still at stake Walt cooks up a deal that will make him a fortune, a scheme with a terrible price. Executive produced by Vince Gilligan and Mark Johnson.

Storyline: When chemistry teacher, Walter White, is diagnosed with Stage III cancer and given only two years to live, he decides he has nothing to lose. He lives with his wife and teenage son, who has cerebral palsy, in New Mexico. Determined to ensure that his family will have a secure future, White embarks on a career of drugs and crime. He proves to be remarkably proficient in this new world as he begins manufacturing and selling methamphetamine with one of his former students. The series tracks the impacts of a fatal diagnosis on a regular hard working man and explores how a fatal diagnosis affects his morality and transforms him into a major player of the drug trade. 3.01 No Mas - As Walt copes with the aftermath of the plane crash and Skyler's anger, Jesse comes to a new realization about himself. A new adversary tracks the elusive Heisenberg, Walter White's kingpin alter ego. Skyler seeks advice on the state of her marriage and confronts Walt.

3.02 Caballo sin Nombre - Walt tries to reconcile with Skyler, but when his advances are rejected he takes drastic action to bring his family back together. A confused and angry Walter, Jr. lashes out at his mother. With the help of Saul, Jesse makes a significant investment.

3.03 I.F.T. - Walt ignores Skyler's demands, increasing the tension between them and pushing her to break bad. Saul entreats Jesse to persuade Walt to keep cooking. Still suffering from panic and anxiety attacks, Hank crosses a line at work.

3.04 Green Light - Walt loses control as he reacts to Skyler's admission, endangering his job and his relationships with Saul and Jesse. Meanwhile, Hank believes he finally has a strong lead on his investigation into Heisenberg's blue meth as an empowered Jesse adopts a new attitude.

3.05 Mas - Gus increases his efforts to lure Walt back into business, forcing a rift between Walt and Jesse. Skyler doubts her new relationship. Marie confides in Skyler about her concerns over Hank's well-being after Hank's actions tangibly affect his career prospects.

3.06 Sunset - Now that Walt has signed the divorce papers, Skyler tries to speak to him about how they'll approach the subject with Walt Jr. Walt starts working in his new lab and meets his new lab assistant. The Mexican Cousins are back, but all they seem to do is sit in Gus' restaurant, not ordering anything but certainly getting the staff on edge. Hank's investigation into the RV now gives him a connection to Jesse. Who better to call for information than Jesse's one time teacher and marijuana customer Walt? When Jesse hears that Walt is trying to get rid of the RV, he leads Hank right to them.

3.07 One Minute - Hank, outraged over having been tricked into thinking that his wife has been in a horrible accident, goes after Jesse and gives him a severe beating. Jesse has every intention of pressing charges and Hank is suspended. He has other problems however when Gus points the Mexican cousins in his direction. Skyler meanwhile visits Walt in an attempt to help Hank. She wants him to get Jesse to drop the charges but he's not inclined to help out. At work, however, Walt's new assistant messes up their first batch of meth requiring them to start over again. His solution is to get Gus to hire Jesse as his assistant but he says he's not interested.

3.08 I See You - As Jesse is released from hospital, Hank is admitted in critical condition with four gunshot wounds. His wife Marie is not taking it well and lashes out at Hank's boss and partner when she hears that they had taken his gun away, leaving him defenseless. She's also less than happy with Walt whom she blames for getting Hankon Jesse Pinkman's case in the first place. Back at his new underground lab, Walt has to tell Gale that he's no longer required. Spending his free time at the hospital, Jesse is left on his own in the lab and he's growing increasingly worried about meeting their quota. At the hospital, Walt sees the one of the Mexican cousins recovering from his wounds and realizes they were probably after him as well. Gus decides to pay a visit to the hospital.

3.09 Kafkaesque - Skyler hatches a plan as Hank's hospital bills stack up. Meanwhile, Walt and Gus come to a better understanding as Jesse, looking for more independence, pursues a new opportunity.

3.10 Fly - Walt is suffering from insomnia, worried about the choices he has made and the direction his life has taken. Unaware that Jesse has been skimming a bit of their product, he also worried that the numbers in his formulas don't add up and that they always seem to somewhere between 4 and 8 ounces short of what the batch should have produced. The meticulous Walt is also concerned - to the point of paranoia - when he discovers a housefly in the lab. Worried about contamination, he goes to extreme lengths to kill it. Jesse comes to his rescue in an interesting way.

3.11 Abiquiu - Skyler gets more involved in Walt's business, much to his chagrin as Hank struggles with his recovery. Meanwhile, Jesse takes an active role in his new enterprise, leading him to a startling discovery.

3.12 Half Measures - Against Walt's advice, Jesse lashes out. Fearing for Jesse's safety, Walt takes drastic action to intervene. Meanwhile a tragic event leads to a shocking confrontation.

3.13 Full Measure - In the aftermath of killing the drug dealers, Walt has a tense meeting with Gus who makes it quite clear that his patience has reached its limit. Walt professes not to know the whereabouts of Jesse who he claims has fled the State. Gus chooses Walt's new assistant, who turns out to be Gale. Walt knows that as long as he's the only cook available, Gus will have to keep him alive... .

User Comment: thebrainflow from USA, 21 January 2008 • The age of Bryan Cranston has returned. Once universally lauded for his work in Malcolm In The Middle, there had yet to be a good vehicle for this man's particular talents. He has that rare gift of generating sympathy and manic-energy at the same time.

For those that would be content to label this show a Weeds knock-off, bear in mind that Breaking Bad is a new kind of monster. It touches on the very same themes, "living realistically as a middle class in the United States" which often makes us resort to extremes to survive. Like the mother and daughter team that robbed that bank. But the weed selling antics of Showtime's hit show is really nothing like "Bad." The Pilot was about as perfect a Pilot as I've ever seen, and much of it rests on Bryan Cranston's shoulders.

Cranston plays Cheimstry teacher Walter White. He has a loving wife, a child with Cerebal Palsy and another is on the way. He also happens to be dying from an inoperable lung cancer situation, which happened although he "never smoked." His finances in disarray, the once great student of science turns to crime to solve his problems.

He cooks Crystal Meth with a good for nothing ex-student. From the antics of the first episode, the show is leading towards a dark place, but a place of truth. This is a no nonsense black comedy.

For people that love Tarantino or the Coen's, this might be your cup of tea.

Summary: Brilliant Character Work In Pitch Black Comedy-Drama.
